A World First: Vaccine helps prevent HIV infection

A world first: Vaccine helps prevent HIV infection

This is the first time ever that an experimental vaccine for the AIDS virus has proven to do so well against the deadly epidemic. Even though doctors say that it will still be years until a true vaccine is found to cure people from the virus, this latest test has given hope. In one of the largest test groups of 16,000 patients 31 % cut the risk of being infected with the vaccine. Here's a fun fact; the vaccine is actually a combination of two previous used trial vaccines that failed.
I believe that this a huge deal and a great breakthrough. Doctors have been working to find a vaccine for HIV for what seems forever and now they can feel they have a chance at finding a cure! AIDS has demolished millions of lives and to think that that monster could be stopped is a blessing.

  2. This is an extraordinary leap in medicine that many thought would not come in our lifetimes. 31% is a bigger number than you might realize. Africa has 11.6 million AIDS orphans. Let's say hypothetically that the vaccine was administered to the entire continent. Almost 3.6 million cases of AIDS could have been prevented. 31% is a big number. With further research I'm sure they could perfect the vaccine and get the numbers even higher.

  3. Woah! "Has proven to do well" against the AIDS virus. This is great news. If this vaccine truly does what it says, then I think as human beings, we have made the next leap into medicine. Hopefully, they will perfect the vaccine soon and maybe even come up with a CURE!

  4. I actually read this article, and it's amazing how far we've come in the world of medicine. So many people have died from the AIDS virus and it's good that they have finally found a way to try and stop it. It needs some more work but in the near future they will be able to prevent a lot of deaths which is obviously a good thing. It's very impressive because 31% is a huge amount of people that they are helping. I can't wait to read the article saying that they found an actual cure!
